TEST CASE 12.3 TRANSIENT HEAT TRANSFER IN BAR
Reference:
The Standard NAFEMS Benchmarks, Rev. 3, October 1990. (Test T3)
Problem description:
On the bar AB at point A, a constant temperature is T1 = 0 °С, at point B a time-varying temperature according to the sinusoidal law T2 = 100·sin(π·t/40) is applied. Determine the temperature TC at point C (x = 0.8L) at time t = 32 s.
Problem sketch:

Type of created problem:
Spatial structure (X, Y, Z, UX, UY, UZ).
Geometry properties:
L = 0.1 m;
Cross section dimensions: a x a = 1 x 1 m.
Material properties:
Density: ρ = 7200 kg/m3;
Thermal conductivity factor: λ = 35 W/(m·°С);
Specific heat: С = 440.5 J/(kg·°С).
Model description:
System is modeled via 10 universal finite elements of a spatial bar (FE type is 10). Calculation of non-stationary thermal field is performed (full time is 32 s, step time is 1 s).
